Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the ERC Advanced Grant ReGroStaFT, which develops rigorous mathematical approaches to renormalization and coarse-graining for models from statistical physics, particle systems, and stochastic partial differential equations. The successful candidate will conduct independent research within one of the project's main themes, in collaboration with the principal investigator and other members of the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions.

Activités

The postdoctoral positions are fully research-oriented, with no teaching duties. The research will focus on the analysis of partial differential equations with random coefficients, diffusions in random environments, stochastic partial differential equations, field theories, and interacting particle systems. A central goal is to develop new rigorous analytical tools that make precise the heuristic ideas of theoretical physics, particularly those arising from renormalization-group methods. The successful candidate will collaborate with the principal investigator and other members of the group to invent, refine, and formalize mathematical concepts addressing these problems.

Compétences

Candidates should hold a recent PhD in mathematics and have recognized expertise in at least one of the following areas: partial differential equations (PDE/SPDE), probability theory, or mathematical physics, as evidenced by an excellent track record of research publications.

Contexte de travail

The position is based at the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions (UMR 7598, Sorbonne Université, Paris).
The appointment is for a fixed term of two years, renewable up to three years depending on results and project needs.
The expected start date is September 2026, with flexibility depending on the candidate's availability.
