Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in a cell biology research project focusing on membrane lipid trafficking mediated by lipid transport proteins during mitosis. He or she will also present his or her work in English at lab. meetings and national and international scientific conferences. He or she will contribute to the drafting of manuscripts for scientific research articles.
Activity
Cell biology experiments on cultured cells:
- Human cell culture (HeLa)
- Transient transfection and generation of stable clones
- Protein biochemistry experiments (Western blotting, immunoprecipitation)
- Light microscopy experiments (spinning disk, confocal)
- electron microscopy experiments in collaboration with the Imagoseine platform
- maintaining a lab notebook
- making oral presentations
- drafting manuscripts
Your Profil
Skills
- Expertise and postdoctoral experience in cell biology.
- Expertise in the field of intracellular trafficking of membrane compartments
- Proficiency in the in vitro culture of human cells
- Proficiency in the transfection of human cells in 2D culture using plasmids.
- Proficiency in Western blotting and protein immunoprecipitation methods.
- Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy (immunofluorescence, GFP tags, etc.) of cultured cells.
Your Work Environment
The position is available at the Institut Jacques Monod (IJM) in the “Intracellular Traffic and Membrane Dynamics” team led by Jean-Marc Verbavatz and Cathy Jackson. Using cell biology approaches, particularly microscopy techniques, the team focuses on transport occurring at membrane contact sites during complex processes such as cell migration and division. The goal of the proposed postdoctoral project is to study the role of the ORP3 protein in regulating lipids at the plasma membrane, and its importance in mitosis (see Vertueux et al., bioRxiv 2025.10.22.684039).
Constraints and risks
Regular daytime hours, with occasional work on weekends (cell culture).
Work in a cell biology laboratory, particularly with L2 organisms (HeLa cells)
