Missions

We are looking for a Research Engineer with knowledge in the field of mRNA metabolism to join the team “RNA biogenesis and genome homeostasis” at Institut Jacques Monod (CNRS/Université Paris Cité, France – https://www.ijm.fr/research-topics/palancade-lab-va/?lang=en)
Current work in the lab is aimed at discovering cis- and trans-acting regulations acting on mRNA metabolism, deciphering their impact on gene expression and genome integrity, and gaining insight into their spatial organization. The proposed project notably aims to understand the determinants of DNA:RNA hybrids genotoxicity, in the budding yeast S. cerevisiae.

Activités

The project will combine genetics, imaging and molecular biology/biochemistry techniques in yeast.
The applicant is expected to contribute to the design of the project, develop the methodologies, perform the experiments, analyze and communicate the data, manage the collaborations and participate to the writing of scientific reports (publications).

Compétences

The applicant must hold a PhD in life sciences and have demonstrable experience in molecular biology and biochemistry. Prior expertise in yeast models will be appreciated. Strong organizational and team working abilities, as well as verbal and written communication skills in English, will be required (French is not mandatory).

Contexte de travail

The Institut Jacques Monod (IJM) is one of the main centers for basic research in biology in the Paris area, and gathers around 30 research groups working on genome biology, cellular dynamics or development. The Research Engineer will benefit from this highly dynamic scientific environment and from the leading-edge core facilities available within the IJM building (proteomics, imaging), located in the Université Paris Cité campus in the Paris left bank.
