Missions

The group just has setup a new platform to conduct ultrabroad band spectroscopy and microscopy on material and devices.
This platform is enables to cover energy from 5 keV and down to 5 meV to cover a large rage of phenomena from core level transition to phonon. The platform is made of 3 main instrument a photoemission setup with three sources to conduct HAXPES, XPS, and UPS. There are also a broad band FTIR to cover visible and infrared and finally a Raman/photoluminescence setup. The platform also includes microcopy capabililty covering with resolution in the µm range over the whole spectral range. Last setups are able of insitu (control of T and light) and operando (under applied bias) to be able to measure not only pristine material but also device.
The team looks for an engineer to lead the experimental measurements on these instruments. More punctually additional measurements, conducted at synchrotron would be scheduled.

Activités

*Conduct X-ray photoemission measurements, as well as optical measurements on the other instruments of the platform (infrared photoluminescence, Raman)
*devellop insitu and operando setup this ioncludes both hardware and software
*Conduct analysis of the data, this includes basic fitting of photoemission data, as well as more advanced data processing for HAXPES or photoemission imaging
*Be part of measurement on large scale facilities such as synchrotron
*Reporting of the results
*Conduct some sample preparation relevant for operandio measurements

Compétences

Applicants would have preferentially a background relative to X-ray photoemission and should be very eager to both conduct experimental development and perform measure, including for external user of the platform. Additional experience in one of the following areas would be a plus: semiconductor physics, clean room manufacturing, measurement of electronic transport in cryogenic conditions, handling The candidate will have to work in an international team and therefore fluency in English is required.

Contexte de travail

The project is funded though the ERC grant AQDtive dedicated to active photonic using colloidal nanocrystals and by Region Ile de France though Sesame grant (INSIDE). The group is currently composed of 3 researchers, 2 post doc, and 6 PhD students and benefit from support from engineer for clean room fabrication and chemistry. Group is highly international so english is the working language. In addition to these daily colleagues, the applicant will be in interaction with various external user of the platform coming from both academic and industrial area.
The applicant is strongly suggested to initiate contacts with the host group (el@insp.upmc.fr) and conduct a visit of the facilities.
