Missions
The selected candidate will contribute to the improvement of an adaptive optics–assisted retinal imaging system developed within the ERC project MIRACLE-AD. This project aims to develop cellular-resolution retinal imaging methods to identify early optical biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease.
The engineer will work at the Institut Langevin (ESPCI Paris – PSL) and at the Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital in Paris, where the imaging system is currently installed. Image acquisitions are performed in a dark room environment.
Activités
Contribute to the optimization and development of the adaptive optics–assisted retinal imaging system
Develop and implement experimental protocols, perform acquisitions, and contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the results
Operate and maintain the retinal imaging system
Acquire retinal images from both healthy volunteers and patients
Ensure data management, storage, and image processing
Participate in the design improvements and integration of new functionalities within the system
Compétences
Strong background in optical imaging or biomedical optics
Experience in retinal imaging and adaptive optics is required
Skills in image processing and data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or equivalent)
Rigor, autonomy, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment
Interest in translational research and collaboration with clinicians
Contexte de travail
The position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant MIRACLE-AD, which investigates retinal imaging as a window into early neurodegeneration. The engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, clinicians, and PhD students working at the interface between optics, neuroscience, and clinical imaging.
Contraintes et risques
Image acquisitions are performed in a dark room environment.
