Missions

The position is focused primarily on the development of silicon sensors for the vertex detector and the timing layers of the future FCC-ee experiments and application to the FCC-ee physics program; technology options presently considered are Monolithic Active Pixels (MAPS) for the vertex and MAPS or pixelated Low Gain Avalanche Diodes (LGADs) for the timing layers.

Activités

The successful candidate is expected to take on scientific responsibilities in both areas of silicon sensors and study of the impact on physics analyses.

Compétences

Candidates should have a PhD in experimental high-energy physics by the date of appointment, or a known defense date in the near future. A former experience in detector development is a plus but it is not mandatory either.
Language: fluence in written and spoken English. Good communication skill and ability to work in a team.

Contexte de travail

The Laboratoire de Physique Nucléaire et des Hautes Energies (LPNHE) is a high energy physics, astroparticle and cosmology laboratory located in the center of Paris with a staff of 90 physicists and 50 engineers and technicians. It is funded by CNRS/IN2P3, Sorbonne Université and Université Paris Cité. The ATLAS/FCC group at LPNHE is composed of about 30 physicists and engineers, heavily contributing to instrumentation development and physics analysis.
The candidate will be primarily based in Paris, with frequent travels to CERN.

Contraintes et risques

The opening for this post-doctoral position is for two years, with possible extension in case of funding availability. The position can begin as soon as January 2026. Applications received by December 12th, 2025 will receive full consideration. The call will remain open until filled.
