Job Description

Missions

The proposed work is part of the ADEME/AQACIA COSMMOS project (Study of Ozone Concentrations and their Impact on Carbon Sequestration through Modeling, Measurements, and Satellite Observations), which aims to analyze the long-term evolution of background ozone levels and ozone episodes in the Île-de-France region. It relies on the air quality simulation platform operated by Airparif and satellite observations from the IASI and GOME2 instruments developed at LISA.
In this context, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
•
• The analysis of tropospheric ozone trends over Europe and the Île-de-France region.
• The intercomparison of tropospheric ozone satellite products from IASI and IASI+GOME2 developed at LISA.
• The comparison with model simulations.

Activity

- Bibliographic studies on satellite products and trends.
- Familiarization with satellite data.
- Calculation of trends over Europe and the Île-de-France region.
- Comparison of data from 2013 to 2024 and evaluation against independent data (e.g., ozone radiosondes).
- Comparison with available model simulations.
- Presentation of results in project meetings, national, and international conferences.
- Writing of reports, abstracts, and scientific papers

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, or related fields.
- Experience with satellite data, particularly ozone and model data.
- Excellent scientific programming skills.
- Proficiency in the Linux environment.
- Experience in handling large datasets.
- Scientific rigor and curiosity.
- Autonomy and initiative, with strong teamwork abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Your Work Environment

This fixed-term researcher position is part of the COSMMOS project, funded by ADEME under the AQACIA call. The project is led by Airparif, with LISA and Ecosys/INRAE as partners.
The recruited candidate will work at the Interuniversity Laboratory of Atmospheric Systems (LISA), a joint research unit (UMR CNRS 7583) of Université Paris-Est Créteil, Université Paris Cité, and CNRS. LISA is part of the EFLUVE Universe Sciences Observatory and the Pierre Simon Laplace Institute (IPSL) Research Federation. Its main research themes focus on understanding the functioning of Earth's and planetary atmospheres and the impacts of human activities on atmospheric composition. The methods used include real-world atmospheric observations, laboratory experimental simulations, and numerical modeling. In particular, LISA is internationally recognized for developing innovative satellite products for ozone and aerosols.
