Missions
The successful candidate will provide scientific support for the functioning of Open Science projects at the Strasbourg Astronomical Data Centre (CDS).
Activités
The candidate will work within the CDS team and contribute to the scientific support of Open Science projects. These projects involve connecting CDS services to new open science systems at national and European level, in particular Research Data Gov and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The work will involve interaction with CDS technical and scientific staff and interaction with CDS national and European partners. Activities will include the development and delivery of training materials on the topics of data publication and the scientific use of astronomical data services. This role will also include communication activities to support the CDS role in open science systems.
Compétences
- Doctoral degree in astrophysics.
- Expertise in astronomical data analysis or data science.
- Experience with Python language tools and notebooks.
- Experience of scientific documentation and training materials.
- Interest in contributing to the development of open science.
Contexte de travail
The Strasbourg Astronomical Data Centre (CDS) is dedicated to the collection and dissemination of astronomical data and information, and to the development of innovative techniques for the scientific exploitation of very large datasets. The CDS provides the SIMBAD reference database, the VizieR service for astronomical catalogues and tables published in astrophysics journals, the Aladin interactive sky atlas and the CDS portal. The CDS is designated as the Thematic Reference Centre for the domain of astrophysics in Recherche Data Gouv, the French ecosystem for sharing and opening up research data. The CDS is also contributing to the development of the EOSC.
