Job Description
Missions
The researcher will be responsible for developing waterborne dispersion of bio-based polyurethanes (PUD) with properties suitable for the intended applications and characterising the properties of these materials. This will involve producing PU dispersions from polyols synthesised from recycled waste cooking oils and optimising the formulations for applications such as varnishes and paints for the construction industry.
Activity
- Development of a range of polyols derived from waste cooking oils.
- Synthesis of polyurethanes from selected polyols.
- Characterisation of the structures and properties of the obtained polyols and polymers (NMR, DSC, TGA, FTIR, mechanical and rheological properties, etc.)
- Development of waterborne polyurethane dispersions (PUDs).
- Identification of the best formulations meeting specifications for the intended application (varnish, paint).
- Conducting bibliographic research.
- Analysing, formatting and communicating the results.
Your Profil
Skills
- Hold a PhD in polymer chemistry
- Have solid knowledge of polymer chemistry
- Have knowledge in the fields of polymer formulation and characterisation
- Experience in polyurethane synthesis or formulation would be an asset
- Maintain a laboratory notebook
- Present the results of syntheses and characterisations, ensuring their follow-up and quality
- Master basic IT tools, ability to learn new ones
- Work with rigour, reliability and initiative

ICPEES is a joint research unit between the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg, comprising 140 people working in the fields of chemistry, materials, and processes for applications related to energy, the environment, and health. The laboratory is located within the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials of Strasbourg (ECPM) on the Cronenbourg campus.
The candidate (M/F) will work in the ICPEES's “Bio-based and Renewable Polymers (BioTeam)” team, which is an international reference team in the field of bio-based polymer materials with extensive experience in the development and characterization of new renewable macromolecular architectures.
The candidate (M/F) will carry out their work as part of a European project involving a dozen academic and industrial partners.
The candidate (M/F) will work under the supervision of the professor responsible for the project, while interacting closely with other students, doctoral students, and post-doctoral researchers in the team, as well as with the European partners in the project.
The candidate (M/F) will be offered a fixed-term employment contract established by the CNRS.
