Missions

The candidate will develop new and innovative n-type organic polymers for thermoelectric devices and organic electrochemical transistors. More specifically, the candidate will synthesize electro-deficient polymers including innovative polar side chains [1-2]. A particular attention will be devoted to the control of the monomer reactivity. The work will consist in mostly organic synthesis, however, we provide the opportunity to work in a highly dynamic environment with top-level collaborations allowing to characterize in depth the optoelectronic, structural and applicative properties of these new materials.

Activities

- Carry out a literature review to select the synthons
- Adapt the existing synthesis of single ether chains to the new synthons selected
- Adapting polymerisation methods already known in the laboratory
- Characterise new materials using chemical and physical chemistry methods
- Taking part in team meetings
- Participate in writing articles

Skills

- PhD in organic or macromolecular chemistry
- English level C1/C2 required
- Very good communication skills are required

Work Context

The work will be carried out at the Institut de Chimie et Procédés pour l'Energie, l'Environnement et la Santé (ICPEES UMR7515) as part of a collaborative project funded by the ANR. 4 institutes from the universities of Tours and Strasbourg are involved in this project. Within ICPEES, the candidate will be part of the PolyFun team, which brings together researchers and teacher-researchers whose activities are focused around the synthesis and processing of polymer materials. The candidate will be involved in the life of the Strasbourg consortium on organic electronics (STELORG, https://stelorg.unistra.fr).

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
