Missions
The mission is to develop nanofibrous composite materials with controlled porosity for biomedical filtration applications and to study their structure-filtration properties. The aim is to develop strategies to reduce the pore size of the membranes and to modulate the hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties of the membranes.
Activities
- Elaborate nanofibrous composite materials by the electrospinning technique.
- Modify the surface properties of the composites by chemical or physico-chemical approaches
- Characterize the structure (SEM, 3D-SEM), the composition (confocal Raman microscopy), the mechanical, surface and the filtration properties of the elaborated materials.
- Study and analyze the micro-nanostructure/properties relationships.
- Write publications.
Skills
- The candidate must have an experimental PhD in polymer physical-chemistry.
- English level C1 or C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Very good communication skills required.
Work Context
The Institute of Chemistry and Processes for Energy, Environment and Health (ICPEES UMR7515) is a joint research unit under the cotutelle of CNRS and the University of Strasbourg. Its staff is composed of about 50 permanent staff and about 80 PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, and engineers/technicians.
The mission will be carried out within the "Functional Polymers and Nanofabrication" team in the Polymer Engineering Department.
The research work will be done in the framework of the DECAPES project in which physical-chemists, biologists and mechanics work in close collaboration. The candidate will interact with the other people involved in the project and in particular with a PhD student who is also assigned to the project.
Thus, the candidate will be the link with the industrialists involved in the project in charge of the integration of the membrane in the medical device and the study of the biological properties.
