Missions
This post-doctoral position consists of research in the field of femtosecond spectroscopy of magnetic materials with two main directions. (i) Developing ultrafast THz spintronic emitters based on ultrafast spin/charge currents generated by femtosecond optical pulses and their coupling to high frequency transmission lines. (ii) Manipulating the magnetization of ferromagnetic metal layers by picosecond acoustic and electrical pulses.
Activities
- Perform time resolved magneto-optical microscopy experiments (pump-probe)
- Adapt the existing experimental set-ups if necessary
The equipment used is the one specific for ultrafast optics (femtosecond lasers, optics and optoelectronics)
The applicant will closely interact with the other members of the project for the design and elaboration of the spintronic structures.
Skills
The applicant should hold a PhD in the fields of femtosecond spectroscopy, spintronics or THz science in solid state systems. Overlapping knowledge in these fields is highly appreciated.
Work Context
Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials in Strasbourg (IPCMS), UMR 7504 CNRS –Strasbourg University is a national and international recognized research center in the fields of nanomaterials and nanoscience. The applicant will interact with the members of two departments, in the teams of “fundamental spintronics” (DMONS department) and “Femtomagnetism and spin dynamics” (DON department).
