Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will join the "Quantum Molecular Spintronics" team at the IPCMS (Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials of Strasbourg). Under the supervision of Martin Bowen and as part of the ANR SpinElec project, the researcher will use theoretical approaches to study the various operating regimes and conceptual foundations of the quantum spintronic motor.
Activity
- Analytical and numerical calculations to model various aspects of the engine, and comparison of the results obtained with experimental data.
- Report writing
- Presentation of interim results
- Writing manuscripts for publication.
Your Profil
Skills
- PhD in physics or a related discipline, specializing in condensed matter physics, materials science, or quantum technologies.
- Strong analytical and numerical computing skills required.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English (minimum CEFR level B2).
- Ability to present, communicate, and showcase scientific results.
- Ability to work independently while effectively integrating into a research team.
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate (M/W) will join the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials of Strasbourg (IPCMS), a joint research unit of the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg, located on the Cronenbourg campus in Strasbourg. The laboratory comprises over 220 individuals, including researchers, faculty members, engineers, PhD students, and technical staff. IPCMS research activities span a broad spectrum of materials physics and chemistry, ranging from nanoscience and quantum materials to photonics, magnetism, surfaces and interfaces, as well as molecular and functional materials. The candidate will work in a highly dynamic research environment within the "Quantum Molecular Spintronics" team at IPCMS, which investigates spintronic transport through molecules. The project will be conducted under the supervision of Martin Bowen as part of the ANR SpinElec project. The position falls within a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) regulations; consequently, your appointment requires authorization from the competent authority at the MESR.
