Job Description

Missions

The recruited postdoctoral researcher will work on osteoclasts, multinucleated myeloid cells related to macrophages and primarily involved in bone resorption. Although their role in this process is well established, their immune functions and their position within the myeloid lineage remain poorly understood.
This work is part of the ANR-funded “DynamOC” program, which aims to decipher the phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of osteoclasts, particularly in relation to age and sex. The project is being carried out through a close collaboration between two teams at LP2M — the Osteoimmunology team, specialized in studying osteoclast diversity and immune functions, and the Myeloid Cells and Metabolism team, experts in immunometabolism — as well as several external partners.

The postdoctoral researcher's main missions will be:
- To study the metabolic properties of osteoclasts during development and aging using preclinical models with targeted alterations in specific metabolic pathways.
- To implement single-cell biology approaches and in vitro functional assays to characterize the effects of metabolic modifications on osteoclast differentiation and functions, particularly their immune function.
- To actively collaborate with all partners of the ANR DynamOC program.

The position is offered for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years depending on project progress.

Activity

- Cell culture: primary culture of osteoclasts and monocytic cells, as well as other immune cells.
- Imaging, flow cytometry (including spectral), and cell sorting.
- Animal models.
- Metabolic analyses and in vitro immune assays.
- transcriptomic analysis
- Writing of research projects and scientific articles.
- Supervision of students.

Skills

Knowledge and expertise:
- Excellent expertise in monocyte immunology and/or osteoclast biology.
- Strong skills in animal experimentation; authorization to perform animal research is desirable.
- spectral flow cytometry
- transcriptomic analysis
- Proficiency in scientific English

Skills:
- Ability to design and carry out scientific studies, including experimental conception and implementation.
- Capacity to organize daily work independently.
- Commitment to staying up to date with scientific literature.
- Ability to present research findings in meetings and conferences.
- Strong writing skills for project proposals, reports, and scientific articles; strong synthesis and analytical abilities.

Personal qualities:
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; excellent teamwork spirit.
- Scientific creativity and curiosity.
- Good organizational skills.
- Capacity to take on responsibilities as a project leader.
- Leadership and mentoring skills (supervision of students).
