Missions

Development of polymerizable systems for bio-medical applications without toxic or unstable initiators.
two principal topics will be investigated:
1/ Characterization of the polymerization kinetics (FTIR, DSC, pyrmetry, photorheology, thermal imaging)
2/ Characterization of the final polymer properties (RAMAN, DMA)

Presentation of the data to the industrial partner and redaction of reports (in English).

Activities

The preparation of polymer is now well established for various bio-medical applications. However, potentially toxic products are sometimes present. With the aim of substituting these potentially toxic products with safer structures, the present subject will aim to develop non-toxic redox polymerizable systems. This project is a collaboration with an industrial partner.

Skills

polymerization monitoring (FTIR, pyrometry, etc.), characterization of the polymers obtained
Background in polymer chemistry and redox processes
Good level in English (redaction of reports, presentation of data)

Work Context

The work will be done at IS2M. The Institut de Science des Matériaux de Mulhouse (IS2M) is a joint research unit of CNRS-Université de Haute-Alsace (UMR 7361). This work will be carried out in the radical chemistry and materials team of Prof. Lalevée.
