Job Description

Missions

The successful candidate will be recruited on the ANR Weak-CyNeuroVir project (2027–2030), which aims to analyze the neurobiological impact of environmental pollutants, with or without viral challenges, using in vitro brain organoid models across several species (human, murine, and avian).
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing experimental protocols in 3D cell biology.
• Conducting in vitro experiments using models of neurotoxicity and neuroinflammation.
• Contributing to the publication of results in international journals.
• Participating in the supervision of the team's interns and doctoral students.
• Participating in public outreach activities.

Activity

Main activities:
• Developing the human brain organoid model from iPSCs.
• Developing the avian brain organoid model from chicken embryos.
• Performing cell and molecular biology experiments (culture, PCR, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry).
• Characterizing organoid samples by immunohistology and immunofluorescence.
• Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting results.
• Maintaining a laboratory notebook and a project tracking sheet.
• Conducting scientific and technological monitoring related to the scientific project.
• Managing stocks of biological reagents and consumables required for the experiments.
• Participating in collective tasks (media preparation, equipment maintenance, etc.)
Associated activities:
• Participation in team meetings and seminars
• Presenting results at conferences
• Writing scientific articles
• Contributing to the supervision of doctoral students and interns

Your Profil

Skills

Knowledge:
• PhD in neurobiology
• Advanced technical skills in cell and molecular biology.
• Proficiency in flow cytometry, microscopy, and imaging techniques
• Expertise in scientific data analysis.
• Knowledge of animal experimentation (possibly for the murine model).
Skills :
• Ability to develop new 3D in vitro study models
• Proficiency in flow cytometry analysis software
Personal qualities :
• Rigor and organization in conducting experiments
• Ability to work in a team
• Fluent communication in English
• Autonomy in project management

Your Work Environment

Laboratory:
Laboratory of Immuno-NEuro Modulation (INEM), Joint Research Unit UMR7355, on the CNRS campus in Orléans. The unit comprises two teams (20 researchers and faculty researchers, 10 engineers/technicians, 10 doctoral students and interns) and has state-of-the-art facilities for cell culture (BSL-1 and BSL-2), histology (tissue processing automate, microtomes, cryostats), pulmonary function analysis (invasive and non-invasive plethysmographs), and animal experimentation (A1 and A2 animal facilities on site). The recruited person will work under the supervision of team leader of the "Environmental Pollutants, Neurotoxicity, and Neuroinflammation" team.
Position restrictions:
This position falls within a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST). Therefore, in accordance with regulations, your arrival must be authorized by the competent authority of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).

Constraints and risks

Risks:
The risks are those typical of an experimental biology laboratory:
• Work in a containment level 2 environment (BSL-2)
• Handling of biological materials (handling of human cells and bacteria)
• Handling of chemicals (reagents required for the experiments)
• Machine-related risks (centrifuges, lasers)
• Compliance with laboratory hygiene and safety rules
• Mandatory training in animal experimentation
