The main task is to develop a numerical model to simulate the energy and mass exchanges at the interface between an unsaturated porous medium and a free flow domain. The numerical model will be implemented in code ComPASS codeveloped between LJAD and BRGM.


- Mathematical modelling and discretization
- design a domain decomposition solver
- implementation of the numerical model in code ComPASS and validation
- application to test cases with Andra data sets
- writing of a report and an article


Applicants should have a PhD in scientific computing/applied mathematics and be familiar with scientific programming (Fortran and/or C++, Python, MPI), numerical methods for PDEs and collaborative development tools.

Work Context

The postdoctoral position will be held in the J.A. Dieudonné department of Mathematics (LJAD) at the University Cote d'Azur (UCA).
The LJAD includes around 130 permanent researchers and around 60 PhD and postdoctoral students. It includes 6 research teams as well as several joint Inria/LJAD project teams.
The postdoc will be member of LJAD team EDPAN including around 30 permanent researchers and of the Inria/LJAD team Coffee including 7 permanent researchers. He will also join the European project EURAD financing the project and will work in collaboration with Roland Masson and Konstantin Brenner from both the EDPAN and Coffee teams.
