Missions

The CPPM is recruiting an experimental physicist or physical chemist to work on radon capture in microporous materials with applications in particle physics.
Mission
The candidate will work on the laboratory's activities related to radon, and more specifically on radon capture in microporous materials in collaboration with the MADIREL laboratory (Matériaux Divisés Interfaces Réactivité Electrochimie) in the context of the ANR IRENE (Innovative mateRials for Extreme radoN capturE) project.

Activités

The candidate will participate in data collection and analysis of the various measurement benches existing at the CPPM on radon capture. He/she will be responsible in particular for developing a new device for qualifying radon capture in a xenon atmosphere. Part of the work will also be carried out at MADIREL, mainly concerning the textural characterisation and adsorption properties of microporous materials developed by ANR IRENE partners. The candidate will carry out gas physisorption measurements to evaluate the porosity and interaction properties (adsorption energies) of the adsorbents with xenon using a device coupled with calorimetry.

Compétences

- Knowledge of nuclear physics and radioactivity measurement (alpha and gamma spectroscopy)
- Knowledge of nuclear instrumentation.
- Simulation and numerical modelling (GEANT4)
- Data acquisition.

Contexte de travail

The project will be carried out at the CPPM radon platform at the Luminy site and the MADIREL Porous Materials and Powders Division at the Saint-Jérôme site. The candidate will work in collaboration with the electronics, mechanics and IT departments of the CPPM and MADIREL, as well as with colleagues from other laboratories in the IRENE consortium
