Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Centre de Physique des Particules de Marseille (CPPM), France. The candidate will work on developing deep learning methods to classify supernovas from lightcurves and images from large imaging surveys.
The candidate will focus her/his work on developing deep learning methods to classify supernovas from lightcurves and images. The main goal is to mitigate the systematic errors affecting the measurement of the dark energy equation of state. The work will benefit from an ongoing collaboration that has already paved the way for the classification of light curves and the estimate of photometric redshifts via pioneering deep learning techniques.
Experience in machine learning or deep learning will be preferred
The position is funded by the French National Research Agency for the project “DEEPDIP”. This project is a collaboration between CCPM (Marseille), TETIS (Montpellier) and IAP (Paris) with expertise in deep learning. CPPM is affiliated with the SNLS and SNFactory supernovae projects, with the Boss and eBoss spectroscopic surveys, and with the upcoming LSST and Euclid missions.
