Job Description
Missions
The successful research engineer must hold a Master's degree or an engineering qualification. Their role will involve, in collaboration with the project's researchers, conducting experimental studies of heat and mass transfer in a multi-droplet system in order to analyse evaporation phenomena. The aim is to understand the interaction of the concentration fields generated by neighbouring droplets. Preliminary work has been carried out on single droplets, resulting in the development of a procedure for accurately measuring droplet evaporation kinetics.
Activity
The project to be entrusted to the engineer will comprise two parts:
- An experimental part: This will involve developing a procedure for depositing droplets onto substrates at precisely controlled distances and carrying out systematic experiments to build up a database. This experimental data will be used to develop a model for predicting the behaviour of evaporating droplets and to deduce the heat and mass transfer processes involved. The originality of the project lies in the generation of unique experimental data through the simultaneous use of different measurement techniques coupled with imaging of the droplets as they evaporate.
- A component focusing on the analysis of data collected from the various measurements. The database will be used to determine the geometric parameters of the droplets and to derive the laws of evaporation under different interaction conditions: with the surrounding fluid and the substrate.
All the work and results must be presented in a summary report. Given the maturity of the subject, one or two papers will be produced and submitted to journals in the fields of fluid physics and heat and mass transfer.
