Job Description
Missions
In collaboration with the LP3 research team and under the supervision of the LaMP platform managers, the engineer will implement, operate, and develop femtosecond laser micromachining processes. They will ensure the operation, maintenance, and technological advancement of a femtosecond laser processing workstation dedicated to services and collaborative projects. The engineer will also contribute to the technological enhancement of the platform by integrating experimental devices developed through research and will participate in technology transfer to industry.
Note: This position is funded by AMIDEX fundation. It is not a CNRS position. The work contract will be established with Aix-Marseille University.
Activity
- Operation of the femtosecond laser micromachining workstation (implementation, optical adjustments, diagnostics).
- Provision of technological services for academic and industrial partners.
- Participation in the hardware and software development of the platform: design, integration, and testing of add-on modules for the micromachining workstation.
- Routine maintenance and technical support for collaborative R&D projects and platform valorization activities.
- Contribution to the drafting of technical documents (protocols, service reports, operating procedures).
Your Profil
Skills
Knowledge:
- Micromachining technologies, photonics, precision processes, and/or optical metrology.
- Laser physics, laser-matter interaction, ultrafast optics (desirable).
- Basics of CAD/DAO and system automation (desirable).
- English: B2 to C1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data processing software.
- Valued knowledge: Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, equipment control, data acquisition systems.
Operational Skills:
- Handling of laser beams and optoelectronic devices.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot (optical, electronic, mechanical).
- Design and integration of experimental modules (optical, mechanical, electronic).
- Adaptability to research environments and industrial collaborations.
- Teamwork, progressive autonomy, and strong technical communication (written and oral).
- Opportunity to develop expertise in optics, plasma, and/or materials through interaction with research teams.
Your Work Environment
Work location: The position is based at Aix-Marseille University (LP3, UMR CNRS 7341) and assigned to the LaMP Platform (Luminy, Marseille).
Constraints and risks
Occasional travel for training, troubleshooting at suppliers, or participation in technical trade shows/workshops.
