Missions
The researcher (M/F) will work within the framework of the ANR projects KiSS et LAMORSIM. The main objective is to develop methodologies for achieving controlled laser-induced local modifications of silicon.
In this work, the researcher will develop experimental configurations et simulations to induce and study the transformation of silicon. The researcher will concnetrate on problems associated with control processing of pre-strcutures samples/systems. The work includes investigations on melting and solidification dynamics of crystalline silicon under femtosecond laser irradiation. The aim is to understand the conditions most favorable for the direct formation of amorphous layers, which are of great interest for new applications in microelectronics (silicidation for electrical contacts) and photonics (waveguide writing).
The researcher will also be responsible for implementing infrared techniques to explore the possibility of generating micrometric amorphized volumes inside silicon, thereby opening new application areas.
The results of these ultrafast optics experiments will contribute to a better understanding of local annealing processes, with the goal of achieving optimized control over the final material state, taking into account its crystalline structure as well as the location and depth of the transformations.
Activités
The researcher (M/F) will be in charge of material interaction experiments and/or electromagnetics and thermal simulations with femtosecond pulses. He or she shall contribute to activities such as
- Experimental analysis and/or modeling of the interactions and material responses
- performance optimization of laser writing processes (Process engineering) and technological demonstrations
- participation in the implementation of new interaction strategies and new optical diagnostics,
- publication of one or more articles on the analyses of the data collected during the project.
Compétences
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent scientist (M/F) interested in laser science and technologies, ultrafast optics and/or material processing. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise in laser process engineering and beam shaping technologies (Beam transport and manipulations, synchronizations, motion control, scanner operation, …). Expertise on simulation tools (e.g. COMSOL) is also expected. Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory.
Contexte de travail
Located in the Luminy Campus in Marseille, the Lasers, Plasmas and Photonic Processes (LP3) laboratory was founded in 2000. It is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 7341) of CNRS and Aix-Marseille University (AMU). The research of LP3 laboratory is focused on laser matter interaction in short and ultrashort temporal regimes. Studies address fundamental mechanisms induced when a pulsed laser beam interacts with matter, in order to manage the physical phenomena that control the effects of the interaction and then to develop innovative photonic processes.
Contraintes et risques
Short periods of travel within France and abroad (incl. conference participations) may be expected
