Job Description
Missions
The young researcher (M/F) will work with our collaborators at the IBDM (Institut de la Biologie du Développement de Marseille) to study symmetry breaking in embryonic stem cell aggregates, called gastruloids. He/ she will theoretically study reaction diffusion systems and compare to experimental data.
Activity
- Numerically study reaction-diffusion-advection systems describing symmetry breaking in gastruloids, using finite-element simulations ;
- Compare the results to experimental data ;
- Presentation of the results at international conferences ;
- Writing of articles for peer-reviewed journals.
Your Profil
Skills
- Expertise in finite-element simulations ;
- Expertise in studying active and biological systems ;
- Experience collaborating with biologists ;
- Scientific writing.
Your Work Environment
The position is for 1 year, and is foreseen to be prolonged by additional 2 years.
The work will be carried out in the group of Matthias Merkel at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPT) at Aix-Marseille University, but there will be a close collaboration with the group of Pierre-François Lenne, in whose lab the experiments will be carried out. It is embedded in the ERC Synergy-grant-funded project BREAKDANCE, in collaboration with international partners.
