Missions
The engineer (M/W) will work with our collaborators at the IBDM (Institut de la Biologie du Développement de Marseille) to help studying symmetry breaking in embryonic stem cell aggregates, called gastruloids. The engineer will work on the computational analysis of experimental data.
Activités
The position will consist of:
- Computational image analysis (optical flow, cell tracking),
- Development of a theoretical and computational analysis of gastruloid polarization,
- Presentation of the results at international conferences,
- Writing of articles for peer-reviewed journals.
Compétences
- Experience in studying biological systems and questions using computational methods,
- Interest in the analysis of experimental data,
- Programming language python,
- Scientific writing.
Contexte de travail
The work will be carried out in the group of Matthias Merkel at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPT) at Aix-Marseille University, but there will be a close collaboration with the group of Pierre-François Lenne, in whose lab the experiments will be carried out.
The CPT is located on the Luminy campus in the south of Marseille. The Merkel group is also associated with the Alan Turing Center for Living Systems (CENTURI, http://centuri-livingsystems.org/, https://centuri-livingsystems.org/m-merkel/), an interdisciplinary research hub in Marseille
