Post-doctoral position in correlative micro/nano Xray Computed Tomography
The successful candidate will undertake independent scientific/technical research into new and improved methods for imaging and cross-correlating Xray-microCT and Xray-nanoCT acquisitions, in a joint project between the Imaging Centre of Excellence at TotalEnergies and the MatriX platform of the CEREGE Research Centre. He/she will tackle three main technical challenges: 1) adjust sample preparation protocols to optimize the resolution and/or quality of Xray-microCT images; 2) investigate laser-based or milling techniques to downsize the sample prior to Xray-nanoCT imaging, while permitting subsequent spatial correlation at both scales; 3) Register Xray-nanoCT to Xray-microCT volumes using digital image processing solutions. This research project primarily focuses on battery electrodes, however the candidate is expected to investigate future imaging protocols for more complex samples and preparation protocols.
This position is based within the CEREGE in Aix-en-Provence, France, with occasional trips to the Jean Féger Scientific & Technical Centre (CSTJF, TotalEnergies).
Determine and optimise sample preparation protocols. Definition of joint analysis conditions (micro and nano X-ray tomography). Carry out the micro-nano tomography correlation.
The CNRS is offering a post-doc position to join the "sustainable environment" research group at CEREGE, Aix en Provence-France.
PhD in Material or Life Sciences with significant hands-on experience in Xray computed tomography.
We will favour candidates with prior experience in geosciences, battery technologies, or polymers, however we encourage candidates with strong imaging-related experimental skills in other areas to apply.
Knowledge of associated image processing methods and software is a plus, but not required.

In this context, we are seeking to recruit a post-doctoral associate to investigate, develop and combine imaging technologies to facilitate the characterisation of battery electrodes at the joint nanoscale and micrometer scales using X-ray computed tomography (Xray-CT).
