Missions
The person recruited will contribute to Work Package 1 of the ANR BioIndicIA project, which aims to develop automated imaging and analysis tools for two bioindicative groups: continental diatoms and benthic foraminifera. She will be involved in optimising preparation and imaging protocols, automated data processing and the quantitative and statistical analysis of microfossil assemblages.
Activités
- Preparation and treatment of sediments or substrates for the extraction of microfossils
- Development and testing of preparation protocols (sieving, densimetric separation, slide mounting, chemical cleaning)
- Automated image acquisition using MANTA platform equipment (motorised stage microscopes, MiSo robot, SASHIMI scanner)
- Image processing (pre-processing, segmentation, automatic classification)
- Statistical analysis of assemblages (diversity, ecological indicators)
- Drafting of protocols, technical reports and possible contributions to scientific articles
Compétences
Language for data processing (R, Python, etc.)
Knowledge of microscopy
o Possible occupational hazards: Occasional handling of common chemicals (hydrogen peroxide, diluted acids). Strict compliance with safety instructions.
o Any health and safety regulations
o English language: Fluency required (scientific writing, participation in international meetings)
o French language: Minimum level required for integration into the team and daily life
o CNRS software packages (Nautilus, Agate)
Operational skills
Autonomy, rigour and organisational skills
Ability to work in interaction with several partners
General computer skills (office automation, image file management, processing scripts)

Contexte de travail
CEREGE is located on the Petit Arbois plateau, Technopole Environnement Arbois - Méditerranée, Avenue Louis Philibert, Les Milles-Aix en Provence
The person recruited will be part of the CEREGE team and will work in close collaboration with the team involved in the ANR BioIndicIA project, in particular with the staff of the MANTA platform of the Climate team, but also with the other members of the consortium, in particular in Angers (LPG BIAF) and Metz (LIEC).
Occasional travel for consortium meetings or sampling campaigns is to be expected (expenses covered as part of the project).
