Job Description

Missions

We are seeking to fill a postdoctoral position on the theoretical treatment of the electronic response of plasmonic doped semiconductor nanoparticles at the CINaM (Centre interdisciplinaire de Nanoscience a Marseille, http://www.cinam.univ-mrs.fr) in the group of Theory and Simulation, with H.-Ch. Weissker. The work will focus on the calculation of the electronic response of doped silicon nanoparticles using TDDFT methods. The position is part of the ANR project DIAAPASON ("Plasmonique quantique à base de nanostructures semiconductrices dopées", https://anr.fr/Projet-ANR-24-CE09-4555).

Activity

In this work, we will study the effects of doping on the plasmonic properties of semiconductor nanocrystals and clusters. This will include single, isolated structures as well as periodic arrangements of them. Ab initio calculations will be compared, throughout the project, with state-of-the-art experimental results. We will primarily use Time-Dependent Density-Functional Theory (TDDFT) in its Real-Time formulation.

Your Profil

Skills

The successful candidate will have a PhD in theoretical Physics or Chemistry, a solid background in condensed matter physics and/or quantum chemistry, and ample experience with ab initio / DFT calculations. Previous coding experience will be an advantage. Furthermore, the candidate should be enthusiastic about the prediction and theoretical understanding of quantum phenomena concerning light-matter interaction at the nanoscale. He/she must be interested and able to work in collaboration with international multidisciplinary teams.

Your Work Environment

The work will be carried out at the CINaM, Marseille, in collaboration with Caroline Bonafos at the CEMES in Toulouse for experimental aspects. It will profit from close contact with members of the Theory & Simulation department of the CINaM. Further experimental collaborators are at the CEA LETI and at the IJL NAncy

Constraints and risks

There are no particular risks associated witht the project.
