Job Description
Missions
Project overview: The International Migration of Young Africans and Minors to Europe. Transnationalisation and processes of early empowerment?
This project, which brings together an international and interdisciplinary team (including sociologists, geographers, anthropologists, economists, linguists, psychopathologists and political scientists), aims to examine the migration experience of these young people and its effects, from the conception of migratory mobility in countries of origin through to arrival in transit or settlement areas. Our approach to the subject aims to view these migrations as a process that intertwines individual and social dimensions.
We study the migration of minors from Africa (North, West and the Sahel) by taking into account the diversity of their journeys from countries of origin, through transit countries, to countries of settlement. We will examine this migration as both a reflection of and a driver of a process of empowerment among young Africans. By 'process of empowerment', we mean observing the migration experience and analysing the early forms of 'becoming an adult' revealed by the reasons for leaving the country of origin, reinforced by the migration journey, and either established or thwarted by settlement in
the destination countries.
Activity
- contributing to the drafting of the final research report to be submitted to the ANR (synthesis, analytical reflection and drafting of the report), in collaboration with the project leader and other team members: this will involve compiling the work carried out throughout the project, devising an analytical synthesis of this work, and contributing to the drafting of the document.
- A second set of tasks involves administrative and scientific coordination, by assisting with the organisation of outreach activities (the Carnet Hypothèse blog) and scientific events (conference).
