Missions

The post-doctoral researcher will participate in the LEST team's activities as part of the European WISESHIFT project 'Multi-level policies and theories on how to leverage - Work Integration Social Enterprises for inclusive and sustainable socio-economic transition', under the scientific coordination of Marthe Nyssens at UCLouvain (Belgium) - HORIZON-CL2-2024-TRANSFORMATIONS-01.
This project aims to provide evidence-based and theoretically sound rationales, actionable strategies, and multi-level policy architecture to Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs), national federations, European networks, and policymakers. The goal is to enable them to become dynamic agents of inclusive and sustainable transitions within their respective ecosystems. Overall, the ambition of WISESHIFT is to contribute to strengthening the tangible role of social economy organisations as catalysts for transformative and systemic change towards more inclusive and sustainable practices within their ecosystems as envisioned by the EU social economy strategy.
The consortium is made of twelve partners including research centres and European networks – REUSE, ENSIE and Social Economy Europe as well as the EMES international research network.

Activités

The post-doctoral researcher will work on the WISESHIFT research project. This project aims to contribute to strengthening the tangible role of social economy organisations as dynamic agents of inclusive and sustainable transitions within their respective ecosystems, with a focus on work integration social enterprises (WISEs).


Activities will include:
- Drawing up a literature review on social enterprises, alternative organisations, socio-professional integration and transition studies.
- Designing and carrying out qualitative surveys of WISEs and their ecosystem.
- Drafting of deliverables.
- Presenting papers at national and international conferences, research seminars and other scientific events.
- Writing and submitting articles in French and/or English to academic journals, with a preference for open access journals.

In addition to the research activities directly linked to WISESHIFT, the candidate will be involved in the activities of the laboratory and more specifically the COT (Change, Organisations and Transitions) axis. He/she will be able to provide support for the initiatives of the research team and the COT research axis, such as events and seminars organised by the COT axis.

Compétences

- Ability to analyse and synthesise the literature.
- Proficiency in collecting and analysing qualitative data using specialised software (interviews, case studies, field observations, monographs, etc.)
- Recognised research activity (publications, conferences)
- Fluency in written and spoken English for scientific articles and conference presentations.
- Project management and ability to organise activities to meet deadlines.
- Presentation and speaking skills adapted to a variety of audiences.
- Autonomy and initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills with those involved in research and in the field, and the ability to listen.
- Good command of office tools (Office Pack, Excel)

Contexte de travail

The post-doctoral researcher fellow will be based at the LEST research centre, a joint research unit (Aix-Marseille Univ, CNRS) which offers a pleasant and dynamic research environment. The staff (around 100) includes 52 researchers/teachers, 10 engineers/technicians/administrators and 40 doctoral/post-doctoral students. It brings together researchers from 7 disciplines in the humanities and social sciences to analyse work and its worlds, which are seen as indicative of contemporary social dynamics. Research focusing on ecological, economic and social transitions and social enterprises is grouped within LEST's research axis 1 entitled 'Changes, Organisations, Transitions' (https://lest.fr/fr/recherche/axes-recherche/cot-changements-organisations-transitions). The pos-doctoral fellow will be associated to this research axis and will be invited to take part to a large variety of research seminars and workshops that LEST offers.
