Job Description
Missions
3D printing of preceramic polymers leading – through heat treatment – to porous ceramic structures containing catalytically active metallic nanoparticles for the selective hydrogenolysis of glycerol derived from biomass
Activity
The researcher (M/F), recruited for 12 months starting November 1, 2026, will conduct its activities at IRCER on the following missions:
- Synthesis of tailor-made precursors (preceramic polymers)
- 3D printing of these precursors using extrusion technology
- Investigation of the conversion of these precursors into inorganic nanocomposite materials
- Multi-scale characterization of the materials; particularly structural characterization
- Application in heterogeneous catalysis for the selective hydrogenolysis of glycerol derived from biomass, carried out in Austria at the University of Vienna
Your Profil
Skills
The selected researcher (male/female) must hold a PhD in materials science with strong background and practical skills in the physicochemical characterization of inorganic materials, including ceramics. Knowledge of ceramic precursors as preceramic polymers, as well as 3D printing, would be a clear benefit for the position. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational skills and meticulousness in their work, along with strong teamwork abilities; they will demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills to participate in project meetings, as well as fluency in English for presenting papers and potentially writing articles.
Your Work Environment
The missions will take place at the Institute for Ceramic Research (IRCER - UMR CNRS 7315 - University of Limoges), and characterization missions are also planned at university of Vienna.
Candidates are encouraged to visit the laboratory's website before applying: https://www.ircer.fr/
At IRCER, this position will be specifically assigned to the team 3 in the PIM group. Note that this position is part of the ANR-FWF project labelled TRANSFORM.
This position falls within the scope of the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESR).
