Missions
Gut bacteria must constantly adapt to simultaneous and variable stresses. While many bacterial signal transduction systems have been characterized individually, the mechanisms by which bacteria integrate multiple concurrent signals remain poorly understood. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are ubiquitous in all life forms, produced both by host immune systems as a first line of defense and by commensal bacteria during microbial competition. Despite their importance, predicting bacterial response to AMPs remains challenging. This project aims to elucidate how commensal bacteria in the gut sense and integrate multiple environmental signals, with a focus on AMPs. To address this question, the postdoc will combine multidisciplinary research techniques (-omics, Tn-seq, molecular biology and biochemistry).
