Missions

Developments in environmental regulations (REACH) require manufacturers to find alternatives to the toxic substances present in their products and in the structures they produce. In this context, the Institute of Molecular Chemistry (UMR CNRS 7312) at the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne, is carrying out, in collaboration with ArianeGroup, a study on high performance carbon precursor monomers or prepolymers.
In this context, the proposed project aims to identify, synthesize and characterize molecules and formulations likely to lead by self-condensation to particular forms of carbon following high temperature heat treatments with the objective of meeting the specifications of the industrial partner.

Activities

The post-doctoral fellow will devote himself to the detailed bibliographic study of the various possible synthesis and formulation routes with respect to the specifications of industrial application, to the synthesis of molecules, monomers and prepolymers as well as to the production of formulations exhibiting the desired specific properties. The work will include important components of literature review, organic synthesis, reactivity studies, formulation and physico-chemical characterizations. Structural and thermal characterizations will be carried out by the industrial partner in order to orient the work and identify the most promising routes.

Skills

Doctorate in organic chemistry and / or polymer chemistry and / or chemistry of materials wishing to lead a project with industrial challenges.

The Institute of Molecular Chemistry of Reims is a joint research unit associated with the CNRS. Its staff carry out a research activity around original questions in terms of chemical reactivity, structural characterization or intensified process developments associating aspects of structure / function relationships, in conjunction with the fields of Agro Chemistry, Health, Materials and Nanosciences.
