Missions

At the CNRS, this postdoctoral researcher contract takes part within the European Research Council-funded project GRAPH-EAST (n°948390). It has four objectives: exploring the “cycle” of the epigraphic object (the medieval production and the history of reception/transmission), providing a connected history of epigraphy using other alphabets, understanding the representation and practice of the Latin writing system in the East, analysing migrant writing through the prism of cultural transfers between West and East. The post-doc will be in charge of the medieval inscriptions of the Italian Maritime Republics in the eastern Mediterranean.
The candidate will participate in an ambitious project, requiring flexibility and creativity, while offering the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to renew the understanding of the graphic landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean in the Middle Ages.
