Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral fellow will work on the ERC project and use genetics as well as high-resolution in vivo and in vitro imaging to study how T-tubules and the sarcoplasmic reticulum interact with sarcomeres during flight muscle morphogenesis. The postdoctoral fellow will be based at the IBDM in Marseille, within Schnorrer's group.
Activity
The postdoctoral fellow will begin by characterizing the coordinated morphogenesis of T tubules and the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) with sarcomeres. This will require real-time imaging of the dynamics of these three organelles during flight muscle morphogenesis, as well as high-resolution optical and electron microscopy techniques to localize the key marker proteins identified. In a second phase, the postdoctoral fellow will identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the morphogenesis of T-tubules and the SR. This will include genetic screening using siRNA or conventional mutants of candidates identified during genome-wide siRNA screening that exhibit flight muscle phenotypes, as well as candidates selected based on their molecular nature.
Your Profil
Skills
- Ability to work as part of an international team - Fluency in spoken and written English - Excellent skills in writing and presenting scientific results at group meetings and seminars - Ability to work flexibly and independently - Strong motivation for scientific research - In-depth knowledge of optical and electron microscopy, image analysis, and programming for the automation of image quantification - In-depth knowledge of membrane biology, particularly regarding the structure, content, and dynamics of the endoplasmic reticulum
Your Work Environment
The IBDM, located on the Luminy Campus, comprises approximately 220 tenured researchers, faculty members, engineers, and technicians, as well as non-tenured staff on fixed-term contracts, postdocs, doctoral students, and interns, distributed across 21 research teams and 11 technical facilities and services. The IBDM is a joint research unit under the supervision of the CNRS and AMU, which explores the field of developmental biology and associated pathologies. The work will be carried out within the “Muscle Dynamics” team led by Franck SCHNORRER. As the laboratory is composed of members of various nationalities, proficiency in English is essential.
