Job Description

Missions

Hired at IC2MP UMR CNRS 7285 for a period of 24 months, the candidate (M/F) will be responsible for developing electrode materials for water electrolysis in an alkaline environment (anion-exchange membrane electrolyzer (AEMWE) and alkaline electrolyzer) and then performing their physicochemical and electrochemical characterization on an electrolyzer test bench.

Activity

This postdoctoral position stems from the AMADEUS project under the PEPR DIADEM program and the CERENA regional project under the PSGAR Energy program, whose consortia include several French institutions, including IC2MP. The objective of this project is to develop a new family of electrocatalysts for water electrolysis, based on non-noble electrode materials, combining activity and stability for the design of an alkaline or anion-exchange membrane electrolyzer. This postdoctoral research position will also focus on high-entropy oxide ceramics of the perovskite type, a family of materials that has been little studied but is particularly promising for water electrolysis. The project is based on an innovative strategy aimed at developing new composite materials and accelerating the discovery of new catalytically active perovskite phases through the development of open-access tools for automated computation and high-throughput screening. This postdoctoral position will involve: (i) Conducting an in-depth literature review on the subject; (ii) Performing electrochemical measurements on materials synthesized within the consortium and, in particular, evaluating their activity for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions in an alkaline environment; (iii) Identifying the reaction mechanisms involved; (iv) Studying the stability and degradation mechanisms of the catalysts under operating conditions, using in situ characterization techniques (Raman spectroscopy, etc.) and post-mortem techniques (SEM, XPS, etc.).

Your Profil

Skills

PhD in electrochemistry/electrocatalysis or materials chemistry.
-knowledge about sonochemistry would be appreciated.
- Solid experience in synthesis and characterization (physico-chemical and electrochemical) of nanomaterials for electrocatalytic reactions and determination of the kinetic parameters of these reactions.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills in English
-The candidate (M/F) must demonstrate scientific rigor, initiative and a strong ability to present and analyze results in writing and orally. The researcher (M/F) must demonstrate a critical mind, autonomy in work, and the ability to work in a team.

Your Work Environment

The candidate (M/F) will be in Poitiers at Institut de Chimie des Milieux et Matériaux de Poitiers (IC2MP), UMR 7285 CNRS – University of Poitiers, working on a strategic topic related to the energy transition as part of the government's PEPR DIADEM program and the regional PSGAR Energie program. The research conducted at IC2MP is part of a comprehensive eco-design approach (see: https://ic2mp.labo.univ-poitiers.fr/) that includes the design and development of active materials for energy conversion and storage. IC2MP thus has the necessary working environment (research team, equipment, platform, etc.) to ensure the success of this mission, which involves researchers from the SAMCat team. The candidate (M/F) will work under the supervision of the project's scientific lead at IC2MP.

Constraints and risks

- Handling of chemicals
-The candidate will be submitted to the rules of health and safety
-Possible short time business travels in France or abroad.
