Missions
The Institut de Chimie de Poitiers (IC2MP UMR CNRS 7285) / Université de Poitiers (in collaboration with a research group at ICGM Montpellier) is inviting applications for a post-doctoral position as part of a project to develop a new method for accessing enantioenriched polycyclic molecules, by combining enantioselective organocatalysis and superacid chemistry (Projet ANR Skelet_Cyprop). Skeletal reorganizations involving the cleavage of multiple bonds are an attractive type of organic transformation due to their atom economy, original mechanistic scenarios and novel direct access to complex molecules. In this context, the opening of bicyclic cyclopropanes is a strategy based on geometric constraint release for the construction of C3 acyclic building blocks and ring expansion products. In contrast to the widely developed C1-C2 functionalization, other cyclopropane opening reactions, involving C3 functionalization or umpolung-type ring-opening strategies, have been much less explored. An original method could be based on the cationic rearrangement of enantioenriched cyclopropanes easily accessible by organocatalytic transformations. Capitalizing on preliminary results and in collaboration with the CGM Montpellier group with strong expertise in organocatalysis, this project aims to study a superacid-promoted reorganization of the cyclopropane skeleton enabling C3 functionalization.
Activités
In this context, the recruited candidate will be in charge of the design, synthesis and characterization of organic compounds and the evaluation of organic synthesis strategies to meet the challenges of this project. The candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Design and synthesis of enantioenriched molecules.
- Multi-step synthesis of target substrates.
-Purification and characterization of chiral derivatives (NMR, HRMS, HPLC).
- Supervision of trainees (Master I and II).
- Presentation of results at consortium progress meetings.
- Preparation of reports (bibliographical and progress reports).
Compétences
Applicants must have obtained a PhD in organic synthesis. Candidates must:
- master the synthesis of organic compounds
- master the techniques of purification and analysis of organic compounds
- master the strategies of organic synthesis and retro-synthesis
- have in-depth knowledge of the exploitation of acids in organic synthesis
- have in-depth knowledge of fluorine chemistry
- have knowledge of scale-up processes
- be able to write scientific reports in English
- have project management skills fluency in English
- ability to write scientific reports in English
- project management skills
- team spirit
The successful candidate must have the motivation and enthusiasm to take the project from basic research to small- and medium-scale application. He/she must be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The candidate will be inquisitive, enjoying problem-solving and the development of new technologies requiring creativity, innovation and personal initiative while respecting the constraints imposed.
Contexte de travail
Recruited by the CNRS, the CDD Researcher will work in the Organic Synthesis team at the Institut de Chimie des Milieux et Matériaux de Poitiers (IC2MP - https://ic2mp.labo.univ-poitiers.fr/). The team's main research interests are to exploit the uniqueness of superacid chemistry. The exploitation of super-electrophilic activation under these conditions enables the development of original synthesis methods that have no equivalent in conventional organic synthesis. The direct synthesis of original compounds of high synthetic and biological value is particularly targeted. The person recruited will report to the head of the superacid group in the IC2MP organic synthesis team.
Contraintes et risques
Standard chemical hazards.
The candidate will be subject to the laboratory's internal rules for all health and safety regulations.
Occasional assignments in France or abroad are possible.
Informations complémentaires
Interested and highly motivated candidates should submit a cover letter stating why the candidate is interested in this position, a full CV with a list of publications and 2 academic references (with address, telephone number and e-mail).
