Missions
The successful candidate will lead a project to establish a model of spatial differentiation in the predatory bacterium Myxococcus xanthus, combining quantitative imaging experiments to detect intercellular signals with mathematical models. The project is in line with the objectives of MAMMUTCELL, the biology axis of PEPR Maths Vives.
Activities
The researcher will develop:
- Fluorescent biosensors to detect calcium signals and secondary messengers such as cyclic di-GMP.
- strains to monitor the expression of genes essential to development, in particular transition genes.
- a microscopy system (Bacto-Hubble) for direct visualization of probes developed during the predation process
- anlayse tools to extract quantitative data from these experiments
- mathematical models in collaboration with a mathematician.

Work Context
The candidate will work in the UMR 7283 Bacterial Chemistry Laboratory, located on the
on the Joseph Aiguier campus in Marseille's 9th arrondissement.
The LCB comprises 100 staff divided into 14 teams and 3 shared services.
The agent will work in a team of 17 people.
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
