Job Description
Missions
The objective of the candidate's research project is to characterize the folding of proteins imported into mitochondria using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.
The candidate will work at the BIP laboratory (Bioénergétique et Ingénierie des Protéines, UMR7281) and will have access to all the instruments necessary for the successful development of the project.
Activity
The candidate's main activities will include:
- Production and purification of proteins
- Characterization of the produced samples by Circular Dichroism and SDS-PAGE
- Labeling of proteins with nitroxide spin probes
- Characterization of labeled samples by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, in both continuous-wave and pulsed (DEER) modes
- Performing in-cell and in-organello EPR experiments
- Preparation of mitochondria (the candidate will be trained in mitochondrial preparation by the project's partner team at the University of Toulouse).
Your Profil
Skills
The candidate should have a background in molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Experience in EPR spectroscopy and site directed spin labeling is highly desirable.
The candidate should demonstrate critical thinking, possess good oral and written communication skills in English, and be able to work within a collaborative research project.
Your Work Environment
The candidate will be hosted within the team “Structural Flexibility of Biomolecules in Complex Environments” at the BIP laboratory.
