Job Description
Missions
Liquid-liquid extractions of phenolic compounds from black liquors by deep-eutectic solvents. Black liquors (BL) are a waste stream recovered after delignification of biomass (wood) during the digestion operation. During this step, the wood fibers are dissolved in the alkaline solution. Black liquor is a potential source of several high-value compounds: phenolic derivatives and dicarboxylic acids from lignin and hydroxy-carboxylic acids, as well as important chemicals such as glycolic, lactic, formic, acetic or succinic acid. Deep eutectic solvents are formed by mixing hydrogen bond donors and acceptors, resulting in a system with a lower eutectic point than the ideal system. DES offer several advantages, such as biodegradability, low volatility, simple synthesis, and high solvation capacity for phenolic compounds.
Activity
Liquid-liquid extractions of phenolic compounds. Material balance and analyzes (GC, HPLC, IR, UV, NMR).
