Improving the industrial production performance of antibiotics raises a number of scientific and technological issues, either concerning the implementation of the cultivation process, the optimization of culture conditions or the physical and biochemical mechanisms involved in the production of the antibiotic. Thus, a better understanding of all these elementary mechanisms and their coupling with the culture process, should allow, in the long term, to aim at significant productivity gains.
This postdoctoral internship will be based on the implementation of small scale bioreactor experiments (mechanically agitated and instrumented bioreactor, Erlenmeyer flasks), designed in particular to :
• Study the impact of culture conditions on triggering and stopping of the production of the antibiotic.
• Propose growth conditions or technological solutions allowing increased production and improvement of the productivity of the process.
• Implement previous solutions at the laboratory scale for scale-up purpose.
Expertise in microbial bioprocesses, microbial cultures, STR bioreactors, biochemistry, microbial physiology (secondary metabolism is a plus), autonomy, ability to reproduce results (pedagogy). Knowledge of separation processes is required.
The general scientific objectives of the BioProMo research team concern the development of knowledge, design and control of bioprocesses for the production of various bio-products in order to meet societal challenges, in the fields of public health (biopharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals), environment (energy) and sustainable development (biorefinery, bio-sourced production).
