Job Description
Missions
Pancreatic cancer (PDAC) faces a therapeutic impasse. Survival rates for patients with PDAC have remained virtually unchanged over the past 50 years, highlighting the urgent need to develop new therapeutic solutions. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising strategy for treating PDAC. The interdisciplinary PDT-PDAC project aims to better understand the impact of light interaction
Activity
The researcher's main responsibilities will include: - Literature review - Synthesis of nanoparticles, particularly gold nanoparticles - Synthesis of photosensitizers coupled with nanoparticles - Study of their physicochemical properties - Study of their photophysical properties (absorption, fluorescence emission, production of reactive oxygen species) - Liaising with collaborators - Writing scientific articles and presenting research results at conferences and seminars.
Your Profil
Skills
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who will be fully involved in a multidisciplinary project ranging from chemical synthesis to in vitro and in vivo biological experiments. Desired qualifications: i) Ph.D. in chemistry, ii) expertise in the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles, iii) good level in English.
Your Work Environment
The Reactions and Process Engineering Laboratory (LRGP) is a joint research unit of the CNRS and the University of Lorraine. It is located in Nancy, France's second-largest university city. Its main facilities are situated in the city center, on the campus of the National School of Chemical Engineering of Nancy (ENSIC). The research laboratory is a leading chemical and process engineering laboratory in France and worldwide (18 CNRS researchers, 82 faculty members, 43 technical and administrative staff, as well as 180 non-permanent staff: contract researchers, doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and master's students). The Bioprocesses and Biomolecules group is part of the laboratory and possesses internationally recognized expertise in bioprocesses, both experimentally and in modeling. More specifically, the photodynamic therapy research area focuses on the design of photosensitizers targeting receptors overexpressed on cancer cells or neovessels. The candidate will work with doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, technicians, research engineers, and researchers. We offer: multidisciplinary training and training using state-of-the-art research equipment, as well as opportunities to participate in national and international schools, conferences, and workshops.
