Missions

With the unprecedented growth of digital data, the demand for efficient and reliable storage solutions has become critical. In response, DNA has emerged as a promising medium for next-generation storage systems due to its high density, durability, and energy efficiency. However, storing digital data in synthetic DNA is prone to deletion, insertion, and substitution errors that may alter nucleotide sequences during synthesis, sequencing, or storage.

This postdoctoral position offers an opportunity to contribute to the field of error correction for DNA-based storage systems. The researcher will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing coding strategies and algorithms specifically tailored for encoding and decoding data in DNA, with a primary focus on ensuring reliable retrieval.

Activités

• Conduct research in the field of coding for DNA storage, with a special emphasis on reliability.
• Design, implement, and evaluate novel coding schemes tailored for DNA data storage applications.
• Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall research objectives of the Mediacoding team at i3S.
• Work closely with PhD students and interns.

Compétences

• PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong background in coding theory, information theory, or related areas.
• Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Contexte de travail

This position in within the Mediacoding team – SIS at the i3S lab UMR7271 in Sophia Antipolis.
The Computer Science, Signals and Systems laboratory of Sophia Antipolis (i3S), created in 1989 conducts research in information and communication sciences. With nearly 300 people, teacher-researchers, CNRS and Inria researchers, administrative and technical staff, doctoral students and trainees, it is one of the largest public laboratories on the Côte d'Azur and was one of the first to be established in the Sophia Antipolis technology park.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
