Missions
- Support to research project management

Activités
- Organization of research meetings, field trips and workshops and media events, writing of research reports and reporting on research projects, facilitation of scientific workshops in France and with foreign partners, management of research activity and exchanges with partners
- Contribution to field trips: data collection (based on field observations, interviews, document search...) in collaboration with the researchers and students of the project
- Contribution to scientific publications and oral presentations in congresses, and to media activities
Compétences
- Robust knowledge on coastal risks and risk reduction policies, climate change impacts and climate adaptation, participatory research methods, and tropical small island settings
- Research experience (Masters' degree or PhD thesis)
- Experience and ability to organize and manage field trips in remote settings
- Experience in scientific collaboration
- Conceptualization ability
- Mastery of mapping and GIS tools
- Ability to talk and write in French for fieldwork) and in English (for scientific publications and congress attendance)
- Ability to collaborate with researchers, decision-makers and practitioners, and to work with local communities

Contexte de travail
The engineer will be physically based at the research laboratory UMRi LIENSs (LIttoral ENvironment Societies; approximately 80 permanent researchers and technicians) at La Rochelle (https://lienss.univ-larochelle.fr/?lang=fr). He/she will join the interdisciplinary research team AGILE (Geographical Approach Islands, Coasts, Environment; approximately 20 members; https://lienss.univ-larochelle.fr/Equipe-AGILE), composed of geographers, specialists in discourse analysis, political sciences and law.
He/she will be involved in the FUTURISKS (ANR) and ADAPTNAT research projects, which deal with coastal risks and adaptation in French overseas territories (FUTURISKS) and Small Island Developing States (ADAPTNAT).
Contraintes et risques
This position implies a high physical mobility for fieldwork and for collaborating with the national partners of the project. It implies long (from a few weeks to two months in length) field trips in the French islands of the Caribbean and Pacific regions as well as in the Small Island Developing States of the Indian Ocean. As all research-related positions, the engineer will also be involved in desktop work. (processing and analysis of data, scientific production, writing, etc.).
