Missions

The IR will be part of the ERC MERMAID program. He/she will be responsible for all stable isotope analyses of project samples. He/she will develop sample preparation protocols and perform GC-MS and GC-c-IRMS analyses of amino acids in fish collagen and organic matter in shellfish.

Activités

- Implement various sample preparation techniques (decarbonation, extraction of collagen from fish and organic matter from shellfish, hydrolysis and derivatization of the amino acids obtained)
- Implement and optimize techniques for acquiring and processing mass spectrometry isotope ratio analysis data (EA-IRMS, GC-MS, and GC-c-IRMS) for archaeological fish bones
- Manage analysis planning (in conjunction with the progress of WP2 of the ERC program)
- Process raw analytical results, interpret and present the results
- Write analysis reports
- Participate in/present results at conferences
- Participate in writing up results related to WP2 of the MERMAID program in the form of articles in international journals.

Contexte de travail

The engineer will be assigned to CEPAM as part of the ERC MERMAID program (ERC-CG2021), but will carry out analyses at the spectrochemical, isotopic, and lipidomic analysis platform of the Institut de la Mer de Villefranche (IMEV, https://lov.imev-mer.fr/web/facilities/asi/). He/she will be responsible for all stable isotope analyses of project samples and will report to the platform manager, the WP2 post-doc, and the program PI. Resources available: various mass spectrometers: GC-c-IRMS, EA-IRMS, nanoLC-XLOrbitrap. The offer is published for a period of 5 months with the possibility of renewal.
