Missions
Discrete Minimax Classifier for imbalanced classes and prior probability shifts in Multi-Label Classification (MLC)
Activity
The first objective will be to develop a Discrete Minimax Classifier to adress the issue of imbalanced classes and prior probability shifts in Multi-Label CLassification (MLC).
The second point of interest would be the inconsistency faced when estimating the necessary probabilistic information to find BOPs of non-decomposable MLC losses, such as F-measure. By inconsistency, we refer to the situations where some types of conditional probabilities, such as pairwise probabilities, should be learned so that they are consistent with some joint conditional probability. Minimax classifiers provide a natural way to fulfill this requirement. This is because the conditional probabilities provided by the minimax classifiers on each discrete profile are basically constructed based on the proportions of the events that appear on that discrete profile.
