Job Description
Missions
The ambition of the ANR CAMICAZE project is to develop an innovative gas sensor in the 10 ppb to 10 ppm range, designed for the detection of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, two major prevention targets, in confined environments. This unique sensor is based on a new optical transduction technology that uses the electroluminescence of an epitaxial semiconductor active layer, combined with a specially designed multi-dielectric microcavity to generate giant exaltation and sensitivity in its optical response spectrum. The sensor's selectivity is achieved by chemical functionalisation in the vicinity of the active layer. The whole system will be integrated into a micro-fluidic system that allows optimum exposure of the sensitive zone to the gas mixture to be analysed, as well as the electrical and optical interconnections.
This post-doctoral contract is at the heart of the Institut Fresnel's activities on the CAMICAZE (CAvité MultI-diéleCtrique Active à mode de Bloch pour capteur de gaZ optiquE / Active Multi-Dielectric cavities with Bloch modes for optical gaz sensors) project. It will be focused on 2 complementary areas, numerical and instrumental.
Activity
Firstly, numerical and theoretical work will be carried out to adapt to the case of crystalline and active materials, the synthesis techniques previously developed at the Institut Fresnel to obtain a giant enhancement of the evanescent electromagnetic field in the case of multi-dielectric planar structures. The impact of the functionalisation processes that will be carried out at FEMTO-ST will also have to be taken into account. The components designed in this way will then be produced at CRHEA.
Secondly, the aim is to design and develop an instrumental system for measuring spectral variations in the emission diagram of the microcavity, as a function of the level of contamination detected. The efficiency of this detection system will then be quantified with the help of microfluidic cells developed at LAAS.
Your Profil
Skills
Sensors, electromagnetic optics, optical thin films, nano-photonics, microcavity, giant exaltations, evanescent field, synthesis, optical instrumentation, metrology
Your Work Environment
The CAMICAZE project is multidisciplinary and brings together expertise in the fields of microcavity synthesis (Fresnel), epitaxial growth (CRHEA- Nice), functionalization (FEMTO-ST - Bensançon) and microsystems (LAAS-Toulouse). The work will be carried out as part of the Instit Fresnel's CONCEPT team, and regular visits to the various partners are expected.
