Missions
During the two-month postdoctoral contract, the agent will carry out predation experiments with birds in order to test the escape mimicry hypothesis as a mechanism promoting local convergence of colour patterns in butterfly species of the genus Morpho.
Activities
- Design of the experimental scheme
- Implementation and monitoring of the experiments
- Statistical analyses and interpretation of the results
- Drafting of a scientific publication summarising the results of the experiments.
Skills
A PhD in evolutionary biology and experimental skills in behavioural ecology in the field are required for this position. You will also need to be highly adaptable and able to work as part of a team.
Work Context
The successful candidate will join the Ecology and Evolution of Trait and Species Diversification team at the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Biologie. He or she will take part in the OUTOFTHEBLUE ERC project led by Violaine Llaurens.
Constraints and risks
This position involves field experimentation in a tropical environment, which means working in hot, humid conditions and increase exposure to mosquito-born diseases.
