Missions

The researcher will work with Jane Freedman (CRESPPA-GTM) on an international research project GBV-MIG (Violence against women migrants and refugees: assessing causes and effective policy response) financed by the EU GenderNet Plus Progamme.

Activities

Research for the GBV-MIG project including:
- Literature review
- Research with women migrants and refugees
- Analysis
- Participation in joint publications
- Participation in conferences and seminars
- Contribution to website management

Skills

Recent PhD thesis in sociology with at least two publications in peer reviewed journals connected to the themes of the project. Good knowledge of recent research on migration and on gender-based violence. Experience of qualitative research including interviews is required. Experience of work with civil society or NGOs working with migrants/refugees is desirable. Fluent in French and English. Knowledge of another European language would be an advantage.

Work Context

The GBV-MIG project has been financed by the EU GenderNet Plus Pogramme. It is led by Jane Freedman at the CRESPPA-GTM research centre with six other partner institutions : National University of Ireland, Galway; University of Vienna; Saint Mary's University, Canada; Norwegian Center for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, University of Oslo; Oriental Institute, Czech Academy of Science; Bar Ilan University, Israel.

Constraints and risks

The post is based in Paris with some travel within France and Europe.
