Missions

The postdoctoral fellow will join the Biosourced Materials team of the Jean Lamour Institute. He or she will work under the responsibility of Vanessa Fierro (DR CNRS) and Alain Celzard (PREX) as part of a TALISMAN2 project (Tannin and Carbon Materials and Metamaterials for Advanced applicatioNs 2). The aim is to synthesize biosourced carbons and hybrid carbonaceous materials with hierarchical and highly controlled porous architectures, doped or not with light heteroelements (N, B, P, ...) for electrochemical applications. The control of these chemical and textural parameters should make it possible to establish correlations between the physicochemical characteristics and the performances in electrocatalysis and electrochemical storage of energy, but also to promote the use of bioresources for high technology applications by following an approach inspired by green chemistry.

Activities

The postdoctoral fellow will prepare biosourced carbon and/or hybrid materials through various methods (hydrothermal synthesis, mechanosynthesis, activation, templating, ...) for which he will be responsible for the textural and electrochemical characterization. Depending on the results that he or she will have obtained, the candidate will have to be proactive in modifying the synthesis conditions and optimizing them to improve the electrochemical and electrocatalytic performances of the materials. The work will therefore be to be fully aware of the state of the art in the field of supercapacitors and electrocatalysts to improve the latest work in the literature and apply, after necessary adaptations, biosourced precursors and environmentally friendly. 'environment. He / she will write the scientific publications associated with his work and present his research work in national and international conferences and meetings.

Skills

The candidate must have a doctorate in science, specialty "Materials", or "inorganic chemistry" and have experience with international publications in the themes of carbon and / or hybrids, porous materials, and their applications for the storage and electrochemical conversion of energy. A background combining knowledge of carbon materials, supercapacitors and electrochemical reduction of oxygen is essential. Other criteria essential to this position are reactivity and autonomy in the laboratory as well as ability to work in teams, and excellent knowledge of the techniques available (synthesis and pyrolysis, density and porosity measurements, structural and chemical analyzes, electron microscopy , Raman spectrometry, galvanometry, potentiometry, complex impedance spectroscopy, etc.). The candidate must also be autonomous to quickly write A-level publications and present his results in international conferences.

Work Context

The Institut Jean Lamour is a mixed research unit from the CNRS and the Université de Lorraine. Its activities are spread on 3 distinct sites: Nancy (Campus ARTEM, where most of teams are hosted), Epinal (Campus Bois, where the work will take place), and Metz (Campus Bridoux).
