Job Description

Missions

The candidate will study the photoprotection mechanisms of photosynthetic apparatus in diatoms and chloroplasts by spectroscopic methods, notably time-resolved IR spectroscopy; Synchrotron-based experiments are also foreseen

Activity

The candidate will:
- carry out spectroscopy experiments independently, both from the instrumental and sample preparation point of view (main task);
- be able to interpret spectroscopic data (main task);
- be able to analyse spectra by statistical or chemometrical tools (secondary task)

Your Profil

Skills

The candidate should:
- hold a PhD in biophysics, chemistry, material science or similars;
- have a sound knowledge of vibrational spectroscopy (possibly time-resolved FTIR spectroscopy);
- have experience in molecular biophysics.
Skills in time-resolved spectra treatment and data treatment are an asset.
Sound knowledge of English is mandatory

Your Work Environment

The Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface is localized on the Pierre et Marie Curie Campus (place Jussieu) of Sorbonne University (Paris). Research activities cover different domains (catalysis, biointerfaces etc). The lab has a long-standing tradition in the application of vibrational spectroscopy to the study of reaction mechanisms. This project will extend this kind of studies to in vivo conditions. The projet is cqrried out in collaboration with Institut de Biologie Intégrative de la Cellule (I2BC), CEA-Saclay (Paris-Saclay University)

Constraints and risks

Experiments do not entail any peculiar risk. If necessary, synchrotron-based experiments will be caqrried out (in France or abroad): Similarly, it would be preferable that the candidate will present his/her results to international conferences
